Dallas-Fort Worth is waking up to scattered light rain showers and patchy fog this Wednesday morning, with conditions improving significantly by midday as temperatures climb to around 77°F.

If you’re heading out early—say, to catch a sunrise walk at White Rock Lake or grab coffee in Uptown—grab a compact travel umbrella and a packable rain jacket. The National Weather Service expects light showers and mist to linger through late morning, particularly in areas from Bell County northward toward Erath County where fog could reduce visibility. The good news? By noon, clouds will start breaking apart, and you’ll catch some actual sunshine by early afternoon.

Here’s what our local meteorologists are watching: isolated to scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms could pop up again this afternoon along and east of I-35, especially in pockets of deeper moisture around areas like Arlington and beyond. There’s a small window—maybe a couple of hours Wednesday afternoon into early evening—where a strong storm or two could produce gusty winds. Nothing severe is currently expected for our metro, but keep an eye on the sky if you’re planning outdoor activities near the I-35 corridor.

Planning your week? Thursday shapes up much nicer: mostly cloudy skies, warming to 82°F with south winds 10 to 15 mph (gusts to 30 mph). Perfect for a round at one of DFW’s courses or a visit to the trails at Tandy Creek. Friday and the weekend are when things get interesting—a more typical spring severe weather threat may develop, so stay tuned.

For you sports fans: The Texas Rangers vs New York Yankees game is coming up April 27th at Globe Life Field—expect pleasant spring weather that day with highs in the low 80s, ideal tailgating conditions. Grab a compact travel umbrella just in case, and if you’re heading to WWE Friday Night SmackDown at Dickies Arena on April 24th, you’ll have mostly cloudy skies with a low around 66°F—a comfortable evening.

If you’ve got yard work planned, hold off until Thursday afternoon when the rain clears completely. Today’s moisture makes mowing less than ideal. Same goes for any grilling—save the burgers and brisket for Thursday evening when you’ll have clearer skies and that pleasant breeze.

Rainy day comfort food is calling your name today. Throw together a slow cooker chili or a hearty beef stew—nothing beats simmering flavors on a day like this. Did you know you can order groceries on Amazon? Get everything you need for tonight’s dinner delivered straight to your door.

Stay dry out there, DFW. We’ll have a full Dallas-Fort Worth weather forecast update as that weekend severe weather threat becomes clearer.
