Denver bakes under a high near 100°F today before a cold front breaks the heat this evening, and with a Heat Advisory in effect until 6 PM MT for the I-25 corridor and Weld County, shift outdoor plans to early morning and keep water close by all afternoon.

Today’s Setup

The National Weather Service in Boulder calls today the last blast of this heat wave, with highs falling from near 100°F to about 92°F by late afternoon as the front arrives. Southwest winds stay light at 3 to 10 mph, gusting to 17 mph, with a slight chance of a stray storm between 3 and 4 PM. Poor overnight recovery — many low spots sat in the 70s and 80s before dawn — has forecasters confident Denver, Fort Collins, and Greeley all reach the century mark before relief arrives.

Heat, Smoke And Fire Risk

Patchy smoke drifting in from fires outside the region will linger through tonight and Tuesday, so anyone with respiratory sensitivities should limit strenuous outdoor activity. The NWS also flags elevated fire weather across the eastern plains this afternoon — skip outdoor burning and watch for sparks from mowers or equipment. Tonight stays breezy with a low around 62°F, rising to near 64°F overnight as north winds pick up to 9-14 mph, gusting near 24 mph, with a 20% chance of a passing shower.

Best Time To Be Outside

Knock out yard work, dog walks, and errands before 10 AM while it’s still in the 70s, then save the pool or shaded patio for afternoon. Once the front clears, Tuesday flips the script: highs only near 80°F, falling to about 78°F, with a better window for hiking or yard work and just a chance of storms between 2 and 4 PM.

Gameday And Concert Watch

The Colorado Rockies host the Tampa Bay Rays at Coors Field Tuesday and Wednesday, and with temps easing toward 80°F it’s a far more comfortable night for tailgating — grab Get tickets on SeatGeek and a Colorado Rockies jersey. Looking ahead, Noah Kahan brings The Great Divide Tour to Coors Field on August 8 — grab a Noah Kahan t-shirt and Find tickets on StubHub before it sells out.

With today’s heat, dinner should stay out of the kitchen — try a cold Thai noodle salad or a build-your-own wrap bar. A high-powered blender makes a quick smoothie bowl, and an insulated tumbler 30oz keeps water cold on the patio. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Tuesday and Wednesday bring the coolest stretch of the week, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and lingering smoke, before temperatures climb back toward the triple digits by next weekend. If the sun’s got you covered but not your skin, the UPF 50+ sun hoodie deal is worth a look before the heat returns.

Upcoming Home Games
