Houston weather today brings a warm Sunday with a high near 89°F and patchy fog expected to clear before 10 AM CT, making it an excellent day to get outside and enjoy the Gulf Coast sunshine.

If you’re heading out early to Memorial Park, Minute Maid Park, or anywhere around the Houston area, keep an eye out for that patchy fog in the predawn hours—it should burn off quickly once the sun rises. The National Weather Service forecasters are monitoring some lingering storm activity from north-central Texas early this morning that could clip the Brazos Valley and Piney Woods, but the main Houston metro should stay largely dry. That said, they’re not completely ruling out a stronger storm or two this afternoon, so keep your phone nearby for any weather alerts. The good news: rain chances are low at just 10%, so your Sunday plans should come together nicely.

Southeast winds will pick up to 5–10 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph, so if you’re planning to fish along the bayous or head out on the water near Johnson Space Center, secure any loose gear. This is prime grilling weather—fire up the propane grill for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob. Grab an instant-read meat thermometer and grill brush and scraper set to make sure everything comes out perfect.

Tonight’s Rockets game against the Lakers (Rd 1 Hm Gm 2) at Toyota Center tips off in mostly cloudy conditions with temps dropping to around 74°F—comfortable for tailgating if you’re heading downtown. Pick up Official team gear on Fanatics to show your support, and if you need tickets, Find tickets on StubHub or Get tickets on SeatGeek.

The Astros are also hosting the Yankees with Kids Run the Bases at Daikin Park today—another great outdoor event before the afternoon clouds roll in. If you’re catching either game, bring plenty of water and SPF 50 sunscreen; even on a partly cloudy day, UV exposure adds up fast here in Houston.

For dinner, this grilling weather is calling for something smoky and satisfying. Fire up those burgers and steaks—you can order groceries on Amazon and have your favorite cuts delivered to your door, along with an instant-read meat thermometer to nail the perfect doneness every time.

Looking ahead: Monday stays warm and partly sunny with a high near 90°F, and the pattern continues through midweek with above-normal temps in the 80s and low 90s. A cold front is expected to move through the Brazos Valley early next week, but for now, Houston’s in that sweet spot of warm, mostly dry weather. Keep checking the Houston weather forecast for any updates as that system approaches.

Enjoy your Sunday, neighbors!
