Los Angeles is shaking off a marine layer this Wednesday morning, with patchy coastal fog expected to lift by 11 AM PT — after that, mostly sunny skies and a pleasant high near 79°F. If you’ve been waiting for a perfect L.A. day, this is it.

Today’s Setup

A marine layer is draping morning fog over coastal neighborhoods and many valley areas, but a ridge building from the north is accelerating the clearing. The National Weather Service says the fog should lift across most of the basin by 11 AM PT. Light SSW winds of 0 to 10 mph keep things comfortable all day. Tonight, fog drifts back in after 11 PM with a low around 58°F — tuck a light layer in your bag if you’re headed out late.

Best Window To Be Outside

Your prime window is 11 AM through early evening. Golfers, pack a golf hat visor and enjoy the round — conditions don’t get much better than this. Griffith Park, Runyon Canyon, and the Malibu coast will all be gorgeous by early afternoon. The Valley tends to run a few degrees warmer than the coast, so dress accordingly depending on where you’re headed.

Events: Hollywood Bowl, Angels, Dodgers, and More

Thursday (June 4) packs a full card: The Human League with Very Special Guests Soft Cell & Alison Moyet takes the Hollywood Bowl stage under clear, comfortable skies. The same evening, the Los Angeles Angels host the Colorado Rockies at Angel Stadium — outdoor baseball with a high near 80°F and barely a breeze. Represent with a Los Angeles Angels jersey or Los Angeles Angels fitted cap. Get tickets on SeatGeek or Find tickets on StubHub.

Friday (June 5), the LA Dodgers face the Los Angeles Angels at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium — another beautiful afternoon for baseball. The weekend is electric: Saturday (June 6) brings the 37th Annual MARIACHI USA with fireworks to the Hollywood Bowl and MANÁ: VIVIR SIN AIRE TOUR to Honda Center in Anaheim. Sunday (June 7), Paul Simon headlines the Hollywood Bowl, and RUSH: Fifty Something lands at the Kia Forum — grab a RUSH t-shirt and make a full weekend of it.

Rain, Wind, or Fire Risk

No rain and no severe weather threats for L.A. this week. The National Weather Service does note advisory-level northerly gusts are possible tonight along the Santa Barbara south coast and parts of the I-5 corridor — but the L.A. Basin should stay calm. No fire weather concerns are active for the immediate metro area, and the Storm Prediction Center has no outlook for Southern California.

Grill Tonight

With weather this good, dinner belongs outside. Set up a patio furniture set with outdoor string lights for a proper backyard evening, then fire up a propane gas grill for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob. An instant-read meat thermometer takes the guesswork out of the cook, and a grill brush and scraper set keeps your grates ready to go. Father’s Day is right around the corner — a Father’s Day grilling set is a gift that gets used all summer. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Thursday and Friday are near-carbon copies of today — morning coastal fog clears to mostly sunny skies with highs near 80°F and 78°F respectively. The National Weather Service notes Thursday’s fog could linger a bit longer near the coast due to a competing coastal eddy, while valley areas stay clearer. By Friday, the marine layer stays closer to shore and doesn’t push inland. It’s a beautiful run of early-summer L.A. weather ahead.
