Orlando weather today brings heat, wind, and storm potential—with a high near 91°F and afternoon thunderstorms expected after 3 PM ET, plus a Wind Advisory in effect through the afternoon.

Here’s what you need to know: Southwest winds will gust up to 35 mph during the early-to-mid afternoon, making this a breezy, potentially dangerous day outdoors. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Brevard, Osceola, and areas northward due to frequent gusts near 35 mph. Combined with low humidity and drought conditions, critical fire weather conditions are forecast—a Red Flag Warning is in effect south of Orlando and the Cape. Do not burn outdoors today. If you’re grilling, keep your setup away from dry vegetation and have a grill brush and scraper set and instant-read meat thermometer on hand for safe food prep.

The Storm Prediction Center has identified a Marginal to Slight Risk for severe storms between roughly 3–11 PM ET, especially near and north of I-4. The primary hazard is a 5–15% chance for damaging wind gusts; there’s also a small chance for large hail and a tornado. A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast after 3 PM, with rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

What to do today: If you’re heading to theme parks like Disney, Universal, or SeaWorld, plan indoor attractions during the afternoon and evening hours. The Jacksonville Sharks game at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena tonight will proceed indoors, so that’s a safe bet if you’re looking for entertainment. Outdoor activities like golf should wrap up by early afternoon—grab a golf hat visor and get your round in before 2 PM ET. Fishing windows are closing; if you’re planning to hit the water, go early morning before the wind picks up.

A Widespread Moderate Heat Risk is also in effect for those sensitive to heat or without access to adequate hydration or cooling. Stay hydrated and take breaks in air conditioning.

Saturday night into Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms will likely continue between 8 PM and 3 AM ET, with a 60% chance of precipitation and rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. The Weather Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk of Excessive Rainfall, so localized heavy rainfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour could cause short-lived runoff or ponding in areas of poor drainage and urban areas. Sunday will be much cooler, with a high near 79°F and only a 15% chance of showers.

Grilling tonight? Fire up the grill early—burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob are perfect for this weather, but get cooking before the storms roll in around 3 PM ET. You’ll want an instant-read meat thermometer and a grill brush and scraper set to keep your setup safe and clean. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

For the upcoming week, check out Rolling Loud at Camping World Stadium on May 8th—Find tickets on StubHub or Get tickets on SeatGeek, and grab a Rolling Loud t-shirt to show your support. WWE Friday Night SmackDown is also coming to VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena on May 8th; Find tickets on StubHub for indoor entertainment away from the heat.

Next few days: Sunday clears out with cooler temperatures and lower rain chances. By midweek, conditions should stabilize as the system moves offshore.
