Orlando is looking at a mostly sunny, hot Tuesday with a high near 95°F and heat index values climbing as high as 103°F, so the biggest to-do on your list today is simple: stay hydrated and plan outdoor time around the heat, not around rain.

Today’s Setup

According to the National Weather Service Melbourne office, Tropical Storm Bertha is parked over the northeastern Gulf and drifting west-northwest, and while it won’t hit us directly, it’s tightening the pressure gradient over Central Florida. That means south-southeast winds at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph today — noticeably breezier than a typical July day, especially if you’re out on International Drive or around Lake Eola. Drier air is also sliding in behind Bertha, which is why storm chances are lower than usual, sitting at just 27% this afternoon.

Best Window To Be Outside

Mornings and early afternoon are your best bet before any pop-up activity develops. NWS forecasters note isolated to scattered showers and storms could still fire up between 2 and 4 PM, mainly from sea breeze collisions across the interior — think areas around Disney, Universal, and the theme park corridor rather than the immediate coast. If you’re heading to the parks, get in early, take a midday break during the heat peak, and keep an eye on the sky after lunch.

Rain, Wind, Fire, Or Heat Risk

Heat is the headline risk today and tomorrow, with the NWS flagging heat indices over 100°F each day this week — practicing heat safety matters here. Rain risk is genuinely low for Orlando standards, and the Weather Prediction Center’s excessive rainfall outlook doesn’t flag our area today. Gusty wind from Bertha’s proximity is worth noting if you’ve got anything loose in the yard or are heading to Lake Nona or Winter Park for an evening walk.

What To Wear Or Bring

Light, breathable clothing is a must, and a pair of men’s sport sandals will keep your feet cooler than closed shoes on pavement. If you’re near the water — Clermont’s chain of lakes or a hotel pool downtown — a women’s swimsuit or quick dry swim trunks make sense given the heat. Keep sunscreen and water on hand no matter what’s on your schedule.

Orlando City SC and Around Town

Orlando City SC hosts Nashville SC at Inter&Co Stadium on July 25, and with highs still expected in the mid-90s range this week, tailgaters should hydrate well before kickoff. Grab your Orlando City SC scarf or Orlando City SC jersey and Get tickets on SeatGeek or Find tickets on StubHub. Also on the calendar: the Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire concert at Kia Center on July 25 — grab a Lionel Richie t-shirt if you’re going — plus the Louis Tomlinson concert at Addition Financial Arena on July 23.

Dinner Idea And Next Few Days

With the heat index near 103°F, it’s too hot to cook indoors tonight — a cold Thai noodle salad or a smoothie bowl bar is the move, and a high-powered blender plus an insulated tumbler 30oz make it easy. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Wednesday stays sunny and even hotter at 96°F with heat index up to 104°F and rain chances dropping to just 6%. The NWS expects lower storm chances to hold through the work week before moisture and near-normal rain and storm activity return this weekend into early next week — good news for outdoor plans now, but keep an eye on the forecast as we head toward Saturday.
