Portland is in for one of the nicest afternoons of the week this Thursday — mostly sunny skies and a high near 75°F, with virtually zero chance of rain. Get outside while you can, because a wet weekend is already forming offshore.
Today’s Setup
A transient ridge is settling over the Pacific Northwest, pushing out the overnight cloud cover and delivering a seasonable, comfortable afternoon. The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies, light northwest winds around 5 mph, and temps topping out near 75°F. One thing to watch: NWS forecasters note a possible breezy stretch near sunset along the Columbia River Gorge and the lower I-5 corridor, with gusts up to 20 mph possible. Tonight drops to a low near 50°F under partly cloudy skies, with WNW winds gusting to 18 mph after midnight.
Best Window To Be Outside
Start to finish, this one belongs to you. Morning walkers along the Waterfront, lunch crowds in the Pearl District, afternoon hikers at Forest Park — it all works. At 75°F you can be active all day without overheating. This is a great afternoon to string up a hammock with stand in the backyard, or — since the rivers and reservoirs are warming up — check out this 2-Person Intex Float with Built-In Cooler for $24 from our outdoor gear deals.
Rain, Wind, and Weekend Risk
Friday is where the pattern shifts. A low-pressure system dropping toward Vancouver Island will push a weak front into northwest Oregon, bringing a slight chance of rain showers between noon and 3 PM PT, a high near 67°F, and gusts up to 20 mph. By Friday night, precipitation chances jump to around 59%. The National Weather Service expects the heaviest totals this weekend along the north Oregon coast, the Coast Range, and the Cascades — and there are slight chances for thunderstorms Friday and Saturday afternoon across the region. Portland proper should see a wetter Saturday before some drying on Sunday.
Events This Week
Tonight is tailor-made for outdoor shows. Bob Dylan w/ Lucinda Williams plays McMenamins Historic Edgefield Manor this evening — conditions are as good as it gets for an open-air night in early June. Lord Huron also performs tonight. Still need a ticket? Find tickets on StubHub before they’re gone.
On Friday, the Portland Fire host the Phoenix Mercury at Moda Center — an indoor game, so the incoming rain won’t spoil a thing. Represent the team with Official team gear on Fanatics. Later in the weekend, Bailey Zimmerman’s Different Night Same Rodeo Tour arrives June 6 — a Bailey Zimmerman t-shirt is the right call for a country night out. And mark your calendar for Bonnie Raitt’s Live 2026 show on June 8: evenings are cooling off by then, and a Bonnie Raitt hoodie is exactly what you’ll want at an amphitheater.
Dinner Tonight
A warm, breezy evening like this calls for something easy and fresh — pasta primavera or a quick veggie stir-fry keeps things light without heating up the kitchen. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
