Good morning, Seattle! Here’s the good news: those lingering showers we’ve been dealing with are wrapping up late this morning and early afternoon. By Thursday afternoon, you’re looking at mostly sunny skies and highs near 56°F—genuinely nice spring weather.

Today’s Details

There’s a slight chance of light rain between 3 and 4 AM if you’re up early, but don’t let that derail your plans. The National Weather Service is calling for just a 20% precipitation chance. The real story is what happens after: mostly sunny conditions take over, with a light south wind around 6 mph. It’ll feel cool—typical mid-April for us—but pleasant enough for outdoor activities.

One heads-up: patchy frost is expected overnight into early Friday morning, especially in valley areas and away from the city. If you’ve got tender plants or a garden, cover them up tonight. South of us in the Chehalis Valley, temperatures could dip into the upper 20s, so frost-sensitive crops are definitely at risk there.

Your Thursday & Friday Playbook

This is your window! Both Thursday and Friday are looking nearly identical—mostly sunny, highs in the mid-to-upper 50s, and virtually no rain. Perfect conditions for:

  • Golfing: Grab your clubs. This is the kind of day you’ve been waiting for.
  • Hiking: Mt. Rainier visibility should be excellent. Head to the foothills or trails around the Sound.
  • Yard work: Mowing, planting, or general cleanup—go for it.
  • Fishing: Puget Sound conditions should be cooperative.

If you’re heading out on trails with moisture still around from recent rain, waterproof hiking boots will keep your feet dry and comfortable.

Baseball & Soccer Weather

Great news for Mariners fans: Saturday’s game against the Rangers looks dry, though a bit cooler as a front approaches. Sunday’s matchup could see some rain moving in, so grab a packable rain jacket if you’re planning to catch that one. The Sounders’ match Sunday at Lumen Field will likely be wet—bring a compact umbrella and dress in layers.

Weekend Outlook

Sunday is when things change. An upper-level low moving down from the Gulf of Alaska will bring an associated front to our region late Saturday or Sunday, with rain chances increasing, especially west of the Cascades. Temperatures will warm slightly, but moisture returns. This is the beginning of a wetter pattern that’ll continue into early next week.

Tonight’s Comfort Call

With patchy frost and cool overnight temps, tonight’s the perfect excuse to fire up a programmable slow cooker with a hearty beef stew or chili. Set it this morning and come home to warmth and comfort as the cool evening settles in.

Enjoy these two beautiful days—they’re earned it!
