St. Louis is navigating a tricky Monday, with two rounds of thunderstorms bookending the morning before a partly sunny 82°F afternoon opens up — your best window to get outside starts around mid-morning.

Today’s Setup

The National Weather Service in St. Louis is tracking two storm rounds today. The first batch has been pushing through central and western Missouri since overnight and should clear the metro by around 9–10 AM CT. After a brief lull, a second round of showers and thunderstorms could fire up this afternoon, mainly across southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois. Damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall are all possible with the strongest storms.

The Weather Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk of excessive rainfall for eastern Missouri early today. If roads are flooding near low-lying areas around the Meramec River or River Des Peres, don’t push through standing water. Once afternoon storms wind down — likely by mid-evening — skies clear out nicely ahead of a pleasant week.

Best Window To Be Outside

Your sweet spot today is roughly 10 AM to 1 PM CT, after the morning storms clear. The high near 82°F with a light north wind of 3 to 8 mph makes Forest Park, the Gateway Arch grounds, and the Tower Grove neighborhood all solid midday options. By mid-afternoon, keep one eye on the radar again before heading back out.

Cardinals at Busch Stadium: Tonight and All Week

The St. Louis Cardinals host the Texas Rangers tonight (June 1), Tuesday (June 2), and Wednesday (June 3) at Busch Stadium. Tonight’s game carries the most weather uncertainty — afternoon storms may linger into early evening, so check the radar before heading downtown. Tuesday and Wednesday both look clean, with sunny skies and highs in the low 80s. Head out in a St. Louis Cardinals jersey or a St. Louis Cardinals fitted cap, and Get tickets on SeatGeek for any game in the series.

Storm Risk Today

The National Weather Service says damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats this morning and again this afternoon. Keep weather alerts on your phone if you’re heading out before noon. If you’re hosting outdoor plans later this week when conditions settle down, a pop-up canopy tent with weights is a smart investment for any sudden wind.

Grill Night: Tonight or Tuesday

Once storms clear tonight and through Tuesday, grilling conditions are near-perfect. Throw on burgers, chicken, or steaks — the 63°F overnight low makes standing at the grill genuinely enjoyable. An instant-read meat thermometer takes the guesswork out of the cook, and a grill brush and scraper set keeps your grates ready to go. Also worth a look: the Smoke Tri-Tip Like Brisket guide for a low-cost weeknight showstopper. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Tuesday through Thursday brings an outstanding stretch — sunny skies, highs near 81–82°F, and light winds. Tash Sultana plays The Pageant on Tuesday, June 2, and the forecast couldn’t cooperate better for the drive over. Rep the show in a Tash Sultana t-shirt or Tash Sultana hoodie, and Find tickets on StubHub if you still need them.

Rain chances return later in the week, so enjoy this dry stretch while it lasts. Keep tabs on the St. Louis weather forecast and browse outdoor gear deals for summer essentials.
