Tampa weather today is mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 90°F and light northeast winds of 3 to 8 mph—perfect conditions for getting outside before things heat up even more later this week.

A weak cold front is pushing through Southwest Florida this morning, bringing only isolated showers mainly inland, so our coastal neighborhoods from Clearwater to St. Pete should stay dry. The National Weather Service says this front will usher in some drier air that’ll keep rain away through the rest of the week, which is great news if you’re planning outdoor activities.

Today’s Game Plan: This is an excellent day to hit the water, visit Busch Gardens, or enjoy the parks around the bay. If you’re heading to Raymond James Stadium or anywhere outdoors, wear light-colored clothing and bring plenty of water. The light winds make it ideal for fishing along the Gulf—conditions will be calm on the water. If you’ve been putting off yard work, get it done this afternoon; highs climb to 92°F tomorrow and stick near 90°F through Wednesday, so you’ll want to tackle that mowing early.

There’s a big week ahead for Lightning fans: the 2026 NHL Playoffs RD 1: Lightning vs. Canadiens Home Game #3 on Wednesday, April 29th at Benchmark International Arena. You’ll have gorgeous weather for tailgating—sunny skies, a high near 89°F, and light south-southwest winds. Grab some Official team gear on Fanatics to show your support, and if you need tickets, check Get tickets on SeatGeek for the best deals.

Also happening this week: BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN TAMPA on Tuesday, April 28th at Raymond James Stadium and the Florence + The Machine - Everybody Scream Tour on Tuesday, April 28th at Benchmark International Arena. Both events will have warm, mostly sunny weather—perfect for outdoor concert-goers. Find tickets on StubHub for availability.

Tonight & Tomorrow: Expect mostly clear skies tonight with lows around 66°F—pleasant sleeping weather with your windows open. Tuesday will be sunny and even warmer at 92°F with very little chance of rain (just 1%). By Wednesday, we’ll see a slight dip to 89°F, still plenty warm.

Heat & Safety Reminder: With temperatures climbing into the low 90s and fire danger increasing across Florida’s dry season, it’s smart to prep your home now. Keep a fire extinguisher home in your kitchen, and consider a fire blanket kitchen for extra protection. If you have a multi-story home, a fire escape ladder 2 story could be lifesaving. Store important documents safely with a fireproof document safe, and keep a go bag emergency evacuation kit ready during fire season.

Dinner Idea: With heat like this, skip the stove. A cold Thai noodle salad or build-your-own wrap bar is perfect—refreshing and minimal cooking. Blend up a smoothie bowl for dessert using a high-powered blender, and you can order groceries on Amazon Fresh to have everything delivered straight to your door.

Looking Ahead: A more significant cold front arrives this weekend, bringing scattered shower chances Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. Nothing severe expected, but keep an eye on conditions as we head into May—that’s when our afternoon thunderstorm season kicks into high gear.
