Denver is in for a warm Wednesday with a high near 85°F, but keep a compact travel umbrella or packable rain jacket within reach — thunderstorms are likely to fire up after noon.
Today’s Setup
Morning looks fine across the Mile High City. The National Weather Service says a surface convergence zone will develop southeast of Denver and push northeast across the plains, triggering scattered storms by mid-afternoon. Along the I-25 corridor, expect activity to develop around 12–2 PM MT and push east into early evening. The main hazard is locally heavy rainfall, with a few marginal severe storms possible over the eastern plains. North winds of 2 to 8 mph keep things light — nothing alarming, but keep an eye on the radar once midday rolls around.
Best Window To Be Outside
Early risers win today. Washington Park, Sloan’s Lake, and the Cherry Creek Trail are all great before noon — take advantage of those partly sunny skies. Once the clock hits midday, clouds build fast. Classic Denver June: gorgeous morning, stormy afternoon.
Evening Events: All Covered, Stay Aware
Several shows are on tap tonight. Neil deGrasse Tyson plays the Paramount Theatre for “Delusions of Space Enthusiasts” — a fun indoor plan as storms roll through. A Neil deGrasse Tyson t-shirt makes a great night-of look. Wale & Smino are at Mission Ballroom and White Denim is at the Marquis — all covered venues, so you’ll be fine once you arrive. Just budget a few extra minutes for wet roads and parking.
Rockies Weekend and Red Rocks Ahead
Thursday heats up fast — mostly sunny with a high near 91°F and south winds gusting to 16 mph. Brit Floyd performs “The Wall” at Red Rocks Amphitheatre Thursday evening. After a warm afternoon, temps ease into a comfortable evening under mostly clear skies. Find tickets on StubHub if you still need them.
The Colorado Rockies host the Milwaukee Brewers at Coors Field starting Friday, June 5, with highs near 90°F expected — warm even by Coors Field standards. Grab a Colorado Rockies jersey to show your purple pride and Get tickets on SeatGeek before the series fills up.
Dinner Tonight
Afternoon storms call for slow cooker season. Load up your programmable slow cooker with chili or beef stew before the rain hits — dinner practically makes itself. An enameled cast iron Dutch oven works great for a big pot of soup on a stormy evening. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Thursday: sunny and near 91°F — one of the better days of the week. Friday: another warm day near 90°F, with a weak cool front possibly trimming the afternoon high by a few degrees. The weekend stays mostly dry with isolated high-based showers possible as some moisture works into the flow from the west-southwest. Temperatures hold in the upper 80s to lower 90s across the plains. Keep an eye on the Denver weather forecast for updates, and check out outdoor gear deals to stay ready for whatever June throws at you.
